Getting started
- Begin your own story, or start one for someone you love. It takes a minute and a name.
- You are the storyteller: the person who owns and looks after the story, whether you are telling your own life or keeping a story for someone else.
- Everything starts free. Add more, or upgrade, whenever you are ready.
- There is no wrong way to begin, and none of us knows what tomorrow brings - the best time to start is now.
Record in voice and video whenever you can. A grandchild will treasure hearing your voice and seeing your face far more than reading words on a page. Written memories are wonderful too - but the voice and the face are what fade from memory, and what mean the most to keep.
Telling a story
- A warm interviewer asks one question at a time, so you never face a blank page. Answer out loud or by typing.
- Add memories as written notes, voice, or video. Take a photo on the spot, or choose from your library. One memory can hold a note, a recording, and many photos together.
- Recordings are transcribed automatically, so they are easy to read and search.
- Every memory is quietly sorted into a theme (Love, Wisdom, Childhood, and more), so a story can be explored by what it is about, not just when it happened.
- Add the year a memory happened, and revisit the whole life as a flowing Story or a visual Timeline.
Who can see what
- Every memory has an audience you choose: Just me, Family & friends, Someone specific, or Public.
- Public memories appear on the story's shareable page. Everything else stays private to the people you choose.
- For Someone specific, pick people you are connected to by name, or add their email.
- A private family code can unlock the family-only memories for the people you trust.
Family and Keepers
- Invite the people who love the storyteller, and give each the right role.
- Family & friends can read and revisit the story.
- Collaborators can suggest memories for you to approve.
- Keepers help look after the story: edit, set privacy, approve suggestions, and care for it after a passing.
- A Keeper can be active now, or a future Keeper: a viewer or collaborator while the storyteller is living, who becomes a full Keeper only after the storyteller passes. Their one early ability is to record the passing.
After a passing
- The storyteller or an active Keeper can record the passing. There is a quiet 24-hour hold, and it can be cancelled during that time.
- If a future Keeper records it, there is a 7-day hold, and the owner and active Keepers are emailed with a one-tap way to stop it.
- Once confirmed, the page becomes a dignified memorial: lifetime dates, an obituary, service details, and a resting place. Followers are notified, and any messages left for that moment are shared.
Keepsakes and sharing
- Share a story by private link, or a branded QR code you can print.
- Keepsake tags open the story with a tap or a scan, for a home, a desk, or a resting place.
- Friends and family can leave a note on the well-wishes wall, and follow a story to hear when new memories are added.
Your data, forever
- Download the entire story as a memory box, any time. Your family owns it, never locked in.
- For every year you pay, we quietly set aside a month of banked time - a safety net. If payments ever stop, we draw first from time you have already paid for, then from that banked time, so a story never goes dark the moment a card lapses.
- When that time is used up, the story does not vanish or come down. It settles onto the free plan and stays there for years to come - a limited selection of memories remains viewable online, with no deadline, even through long stretches without payment.
- For the first year after payments stop, the complete story stays downloadable as a memory box straight away, whenever you want it - the whole library, in full.
- After that first year, the full library - every memory and original recording - moves into secure cold storage for about ten more years. The free page stays up the whole time, and the complete download is still available on request to anyone with access to the private story: we bring it back from cold storage and prepare it for you. It is not instant, but for those years it is safe and recoverable.
- Restoring is always on the table. Whenever you are ready - months or even years later - turning full features back on, or restoring from a memory box, brings the complete story back to life right where it left off. The free tier is a long-term home, and we would always reach out before anything ever changed.
- Nothing is deleted out from under you without warning. Your family owns the story - to view, to download, and to bring fully back whenever they choose - and a copy you export is yours to keep for good.
